Untitled-1We’re planning on producing some Motourage Tour 2010 T-Shirts, highlighting the events where the Motourage group will have a presence this summer (So far the list is WSBK at Miller, MotoGP at Indy and AMA at VIR with more TBD).  So, we’re asking readers to submit their favorite motorcycle racing quotes to be used on the back of the shirts.

We’re looking for famous or semi-famous racers or anyone close to the racing world; managers, techs, crew chiefs, promoters, media, etc.

Just post your suggested quote and to whom it’s credited in the comments section.  If your suggestion is selected for use on the Motourage T-Shirt, you’ll receive a free T-Shirt and some other neat little prize that we find lying around.

Motourage Video of the Day: Lap around VIR

August 10th, 2009 cranialooze No comments

Today’s video of the day takes you on a fast lap around Virginia International Raceway.

One of the first permanent race tracks in the US, Virginia International Raceway hosted its first official race in 1957.  In its early years, VIR hosted automobile and motorcycle races, and the list of competitors reads like a who’s who of hall-of-famers.  Sanctioned events took place regularly for nearly 20 years, until the 1973 fuel crisis hit American motorsports hard, and VIR closed its paddock in 1974.  The track lay dormant for 25 years until it was revived in 1998. VIR reopened in 2000 after undergoing a complete overhaul.  The track was widened and repaved, but stuck to the original course layout.

This weekend, VIR will host the 10th-annual AMA Big Kahuna Nationals, and the party starts on Thursday night and doesn’t stop until the last bike crosses the line on Sunday evening.  Head up early and join the Motourage team at “Race to Texas,” the official Big Kahuna Kickoff party on Thursday, August 13th at 8:00 at Texas Steakhouse and Saloon in Danville.  If you’ve purchased your Motourage Celebrity Weekend Hospitality Passes, you’ll receive your tickets in the mail shortly, and they’ll be accompanied by your official Motourage schedule.  If you’re reading this – regardless of if you’ll be joining us in the Pagoda – you’re eligible for some cool prizes this weekend.  Stay tuned to Motourage.net throughout the week to keep updated about what’s going on at the track and elsewhere.

Food drive at the AMA Big Kahuna Nationals at VIR

August 6th, 2009 cranialooze No comments

If you’ll be attending the Motourage Celebrity Weekend at the AMA Pro Racing Big Kahuna Nationals, you also have an opportunity to contribute to the less fortunate.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (August 6, 2009) – Fans that attend the 2009 Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals at Virginia International Raceway will be able to give back to the community while enjoying the best that AMA Pro Road Racing has to offer. The event weekend, which features doubleheaders by AMA Pro National Guard American Superbike presented by Parts Unlimited and AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL, will take place August 14-16, 2009, and those visiting the scenic track in Alton, Va., have the opportunity to donate a can of food to a local charity.

AMA Pro Racing, Motor Racing Outreach Association (MRO) Chaplain Tim Burleson, M1 Entertainment and VIR have joined forces to support the community and collect non-perishable food-items to benefit God’s Storehouse Food Bank in nearby Danville, Va.

“The mountain regions have been hit hard during this recession,” said Burleson, a native of the North Carolina Mountains. “This food drive will let the hurting people in the Danville area know that the motorcycle racing community supports them and wants to give back.”

Well-marked collection bins will be located at the entrance to the facility, the vendor area and Tech Building in the Paddock. All food items collected will be donated to the Food Bank at the end of the weekend.

The public is invited to visit the website for God’s Storehouse at www.godsstorehouse.org. MRO’s website can be accessed at www.go2mro.com.
