Burgess re-signs with Aussie Dave Racing for 2012 AMA Superbike season

January 30th, 2012 No comments

Australian superbike racer Jordy Burgess from Newcastle, New South Wales in Australia has re-signed an agreement with Team ADR Racing for 2012 to compete in the AMA Pro National Guard Superbike Championships. After a successful campaign with ADR for 2011 on board the ADR-built Suzuki GSX-R1000, Burgess is saddling up for another year abroad in the United States competing with some of the best superbike racers in one of the world’s highest profile championships, in which he will be competing alongside fellow countryman and ADR team owner “Aussie” Dave Anthony.

“I am really excited about this forthcoming season,” said Burgess. “Riding again with ADR is a great opportunity for me to build upon my first season in AMA Superbike last year and continue moving up the ranks. The bike this year will have some additional improvements. It’s been quite a long time since my last ride, in fact the last time I was on a race bike was the New Jersey race last year so I’m looking forward to getting back up to speed and getting some miles on the bike before our first round in Daytona 15-17th March.”

The number 33 Rider will have the experience under his belt from 2011 to draw upon on his return to the United States for the 11-round, nationwide series in which he will again be working alongside mechanic Shaun Higginbottom for the season.

Burgess will head to California this week to start preseason training and testing along with some State Championship races with ADR before heading east to Florida, where the AMA Pro Racing season will commence as part of Bikeweek 2012 in Daytona, FL.

Jordy Burgess at Laguna

April 25th, 2011 No comments

We here at Motourage have been following Australian Superbike racer Jordan (AKA Jordy) Burgess for a few years now, first as a Superstock and Superbike racer in the Australian Superbike Championship and now as a rider with Team ADR Fly Racing Suzuki in the AMA Superbike series.

Although Jordy has only four years as a pro racer under his belt, he’s doing a great job marketing himself. His blog is constantly updated, he posts regularly on his Facebook and Twitter pages and he often shares videos like this one, taken this morning at Laguna Seca. Other racers would benefit by following his example.

Keep an eye out for this 25-year-old up and comer.

ASBK racer Jordy Burgess signs with Aussie Dave Racing for the 2011 AMA Superbike season

December 15th, 2010 No comments

2010 Ducati Motologic Superbike rookie Jordy Burgess has joined AMA Superbike team ADR Racing, contesting the Superbike Class for the 2011 season onboard a Suzuki GSXR-1000.

After a disappointing Australian Superbike Championship rookie year on board the Ducati Motologic Racing 1198R finishing the ASBK season in 11th place overall, Burgess is keen to get back onto a four-cylinder machine.

Burgess: “I am so stoked to have this opportunity to contest the AMA championships. I have learnt a lot this season here in Australia contesting the ASBK despite the disappointing events throughout the year. I believe experiences like this [2010 season] can only make you stronger, so I am remaining positive moving forward and plan on getting back to full fitness before the start of the season next year and rip it up over there.”

“The Aussie Dave Racing Team is going to be like an Aussie Assault on the AMA championships, which is cool. I believe I will have the right support and the right package with good track time promised to get me where I need to be to become a top contender and home some great results.”

The team is expected to make their first outing at the official AMA test in January at Daytona International Speedway.

Burgess, who was runner-up in the 2009 Australian Superstock 1000 championship, has been racing in the national championship in Australia for only three years, starting racing at the age of 21, and has always had the ambition to race in the USA.

“Next year will be tough in many regards but exciting all the same. New tracks, new bikes, new team and a new country… it’s all part of the challenge, you gotta love it!. I will be basing myself in sunny southern California for the duration of the season which has a similar feel to where I live in Australia which is cool. My girlfriend, Ashlea, will be also re-locating from Australia over to Philadelphia to continue her career competing and training dressage horses; so it’s all happening.”

The Deal was struck late last week with team owner and racer Dave Anthony while Burgess was visiting the USA.

Staring surprised by ASBK Superpole pace

August 21st, 2010 No comments

After all but counting himself out, Cougar Bourbon Honda Racing pilot Bryan Staring was able to produce a near perfect lap to claim pole position for the fifth round of the Viking Australian Superbike Championship at Queensland Raceway.

Staring struggled in today’s two 30-minute qualifying sessions and was hopeful of simply securing a front-row start. Midway through Motul Superpole, Staring’s split time suggested he had found some extra pace, and it was confirmed as he stopped the clock with a 1:10.379 lap of the 3.12km circuit, the fastest lap of the day.

Wayne Maxwell came agonizingly close to knocking Staring from the top spot, lapping just nine-hundredths of a second slower than his fellow Honda rider. The Demolition Plus GAS Honda pilot claimed provisional pole after a solid showing in this afternoon’s second qualifying session, and was encouraged despite missing out by such a small margin.

KTM Superbike Team rider Shannon Johnson enjoyed a welcome return to form, qualifying his RC8R in third position with a tidy Superpole lap.
“Qualifying has been a dream run in comparison to the last round, last time we were here we only did 3 laps in qualifying – this time I find myself in third,” said Johnson. “It’s the first time all year we’ve made Superpole and we improved a handful of positions on top of qualifying. It’s a huge credit to all involved in the outfit including KTM and ESG (Evolution Sports Group).
After the last round I was really questioning myself but we worked hard, tried a few things at a test which yielded positive result and here we are.
This is the best the bike has felt all year; it feels good in the turns, which was its weak point in the past. Over race distance this will be a strong point, too.
I’ve already exceeded my goal for the weekend and – who knows – we might just be in a position to take a podium which would be amazing.”

The Valvoline-backed entry of Glenn Allerton made it three Honda CBR1000RR racers on the front row, with the 2008 champ recording a 1:11.300.

CJC Racing Superstock entrant Craig Coxhell made it in to Superpole for the second round in a row and showed the might of the 1000cc BMW machine on Queensland Raceway’s two long straights. He was fifth quickest and heads up the second row of the grid, followed by The Natural Aprilia Racing’s Dan Stauffer, Team Mack Trucks Suzuki’s Robbie Bugden and Ducati Motologic’s Jamie Stauffer who made a small mistake on his flying lap.

Monday testing wrap up!

hey guys, so today we were out for half a day testing at QLD raceway. We had a load of things planned to test today and tomorrow and the direction we are taking and the plan that has been set out sounds great, the bike is working nicely. Myself in that equation is also getting there, besides yet another untimely get-off at turn one after my bike failed to select any gears at the end of the straight, which saw me eat dirt and jarred my back a bit when i tried to lift it up! just another niggling injury to add to the list haha! I’m good to go for tomorrow though and look forward to testing a few more things and trying to navigate the bumps here tomorrow on this bumpy bumpy track! our times today were promising, having changed the fork setting quite a lot and tomorrow have some other things to try out so it will be a good chance to properly test before this round coming up and get things sorted!!! we had the guys from SP tools come out today and jamie gave the motorsport marketing manager (a nice looking female) a 2 seater ride which he got all excited about and we struggled to get him to come back in off the track. he he.

Anyways, i also got the opportunity to go and meet up with my OGK helmet sponsor Chris Lynis from Moto National accessories at Banyo, near Brisbane today and got the tour of the warehouse and a good look through all there products. They distribute most things bike riders are after like helmets (OGK), gloves, boots, MX and harley accessories. They are a great bunch of people.

Tomorrow i will get the chance to do some filming with a good quality camera for a change so ill string something cool together and have it up on the site in the next coming days. Ill give you all a tour of the truck and pits, a look at the two up rides we are doing at the moment and we’ll have a bit of a chat to a few team members and some other riders! happy times!!

peace!
