This upcoming weekend will be the first installment of the Motourage Carolina Weekend of Speed, where we’ll be experiencing live and televised motorcycle events as well as kicking off the weekend with a something that’s not directly race related – an Italian wine tasting.
We’re going to kick start the weekend on Friday with an Italian wine tasting at Wine Styles in Raleigh, NC’s Alexander Promenade. To start the event off properly, it is suggested that you wear your Ducati, Aprilia, Cagiva, Moto Guzzi, Bimota, MV Agusta, Gilera and – OK – even your Vespa gear to get yourself in the mood.
The wine tasting runs from 6-8pm
Italian Wine Night Special Tasting Event June 26
Friday June 26 from 6PM – 8PM we will host a special tasting to introduce a wonderful new line of value Italian wines! Mr. Emanuele Magnani, President of Sunrise Wines and the importer of these great wines will be pouring for us this evening. There will be a $5 charge for the tasting and complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be included. Featured wines will include:
Crisp – Ca’ Brigiano Pinot Grigio from Italy. Soft pressed and fermented off the skins. Stainless steel fermented until bottled. Pale straw yellow, light to medium bodied and off dry. Floral aromas with rich fruity flavors with good length. Clean & rounded finish.
Crisp – Ca’ Brigiano Chardonnay from Italy. Stainless steel fermented makes this wine light and refreshing. Light yellow with a green tinge. Aromatic and crisp, very fruit forward.
Fruity – Ca’ Brigiano Merlot from Italy. Dark ruby red, full and plumy on the palate. Herbal notes with a light fruity finish. Stainless steel fermented with some slight oak.
Fruity/Mellow – Ca’ Brigiano Montepulciano d’ Abruzzo from Italy. Sangiovese varietal. Very fruity with plenty of berry flavors and some slight dryness on the finish.
Mellow – L’ Armangia Barbera d’ Asti DOC from Italy. Ruby red with purple tones that change to garnet red after several years of aging. Bouquet of stone fruit, strawberries, violets, vanilla and almonds with a touch of smoky hues. Complex yet smooth. Great with tomato based sauces.

Now, don’t consume too much wine on Friday, because you’re going to have to be up nice and early on Saturday for the drive down to the Laurinburg/Maxton Airport for the East Coast Timing Association land speed races. Maxton, NC is the East Coast’s answer to the Bonneville Salt Flats, and if you want to see some real speed, here’s your chance.
