December 2nd, 2011 No comments

From a Maverick Moto Media press release:

Lucky Management is proud to announce the formation of Team Rotobox/Nexx. For the 2012 season, Bryce Prince and Luke Lucky Huff will be competing in the full AMA Pro Racing seasons, as well as entering WERA, WSMC, and the California State Championship. Both Bryce and Luke will be racing with Rotobox carbon fiber wheels and Nexx helmets on for all of the club racing rounds. Bryce will be defending his Overall California State Championship title, as well as the six additional championships he brought home in 2011. Luke is the rapidly progressing upstart featured in Roadracing World’s December 2011 issue, on pages 76/77.

Bryce Prince talks with Speed's Greg White

The two European brands are constantly developing revolutionary products to aid motorcycle racers and enthusiasts in their pursuit of speed and style. Rotobox’s revolutionary boxed-spoke construction increases the rigidity and strength of the wheels without adding weight. Nexx has a solid history in the helmet market in Europe producing numerous popular helmet styles since 2001. Currently, Nexx is sold in 46 countries around the world and expanding rapidly.

Rotobox and Nexx will have a booth set up at the upcoming Long Beach International Motorcycle Show on December 9-11. One of the Team Rotobox/Nexx bikes will accompany them in the booth, and both riders will also be in attendance to sign autographs and answer questions. Everyone involved is very excited about bringing a new team and presence to the racing world in the US.

Second-annual MRO food drive at WERA & AMA events at VIR

August 6th, 2010 No comments

The Second-Annual Motor Racing Outreach VIR Food Drive to benefit God’s Storehouse in Danville, Va. will be taking place at the Suzuki White Lightning AMA Pro Superbike Nationals, to be held August 13 – 15, 2010 at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Va.

As last season, the food drive will be held on both the WERA and AMA Pro weekends, August 6 – 8 and 13 – 15, 2010, respectively. Riders, teams, fans, officials and everyone who attends are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Storehouse. Last year, the combined weekends raised more than 400 pounds of food that were distributed to the needy in the Danville, Va. area.

There will be marked gray bins throughout the paddock and vendor areas for donations to be dropped off. Any AMA Pro teams that have unopened food left over on Sunday are asked to request a bin, and MRO Chaplain Tim Burleson will see to it that you have one so your leftover food can be donated.

For more information, contact Chaplain Tim at gracingfuelministry@yahoo.com.

TVR/EBC Brakes Yamaha’s Zac Chapman Critically Injured at VIR

LEEDS, Va. — Zac Chapman, a WERA racer and team rider for TVR/EBC Brakes Yamaha, was critically injured in a sprint race on Saturday during WERA’s Cycle Jam at Virginia International Raceway.

Chapman supported TVR during the endurance race on Friday, although he opted not to ride. He is recovering from a broken ankle and felt the hour-long stints might be too strenuous. After the endurance race, Chapman stayed to compete on his own bikes throughout the remainder of the weekend. During his first race on Saturday, Chapman crashed in turn six; it was a single-bike incident.

Chapman received head and neck injuries in the crash. He was initially lucid, but he was taken to the hospital in nearby Danville as a precaution. After arriving there, however, his condition declined and he was airlifted to the Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia.

As of Sunday night, Chapman is in a coma due to his injuries—including fluid buildup inside his skull—and is listed in critical condition. He has already undergone two surgeries to relieve the pressure in his skull and to accommodate swelling. More information will be released as it becomes available.

Chapman’s family is by his side, and they, along with his TVR teammates, request prayers and thoughts for his recovery. “Zac is more than a teammate; he’s also a good friend,” said TVR team owner Chuck Ivey. “The whole team is pulling for him.”

Anyone who wishes to send cards should address them to:
